A brand identity package your team can use consistently

Define useful brand identity deliverables, choose priority applications and check that your team can work with the files after handover.

A brand identity package supports a recognisable, consistent presence across everyday communications. Its scope should follow how the business actually works. One company may first need usable proposal templates; another may prioritise packaging or customer-facing materials. The useful outcome combines visual decisions, clear guidance and working files that people can apply after the design project ends.

Map the real points of contact

Collect examples of current emails, proposals, presentations, packaging, social posts, signage or event materials. Mark what is used regularly and what is planned for later. Add the languages, software and people involved. This inventory separates the essential starting package from applications that are not yet needed. It also reveals which materials the team should be able to edit without returning to the designer for every change.

Define the visual foundation

Discuss the logo, its variants, colours, typography and supporting graphics alongside their intended use. Ask how they work in a large heading, a small mark, a light background and a dark one. If the name is not final, agree the sequence of naming and visual development. When updating an identity, identify which existing elements support recognition and which create inconsistencies across company materials.

Test the guidance on actual examples

A guide should explain how elements work together, not just display each one separately. Request examples of text hierarchy, colour combinations, logo placement and image treatment on the selected applications. Check long names, short captions and content in the required languages. Everyday examples help employees make consistent choices. They also make it easier to identify unclear rules before those rules are handed to several different contributors.

Choose templates that people will use

Connect the template list to the first stage of implementation: perhaps a customer proposal, presentation and a few recurring post types. Clarify which fields can change, which elements stay fixed and which software opens the files. An attractive demonstration layout does not answer all these questions. Before acceptance, ask a team member to replace the copy and image in a working template and check the result.

Plan the handover and rollout

Agree the final file list, editable versions, exports for the selected uses and information about the fonts and images included. Folder and version names should make the current material easy to find. Assign responsibility for maintaining the master set and updating templates. Start implementation with priority contact points, then replace the remaining materials in a clear sequence so the team understands the transition.

Questions to ask at acceptance

  • Are the agreed priority applications included?
  • Are logo variants, colours and typography rules clear?
  • Have the required languages and realistic text lengths been checked?
  • Can the team open and edit the working templates?
  • Who maintains the current master files? Share examples of your existing materials with Siteman to discuss a package that fits your business.
